Bearded, bad-boy barber Knox prefers to live his life the way he takes his coffee: Alone. Unless you count his basset hound, Waylon.

Knox doesn’t tolerate drama, even when it comes in the form of a stranded runaway bride.

Naomi wasn’t just running away from her wedding. She was riding to the rescue of her estranged twin to Knockemout, Virginia, a rough-around-the-edges town where disputes are settled the old-fashioned way…with fists and beer. Usually in that order.

Too bad for Naomi her evil twin hasn’t changed at all. After helping herself to Naomi’s car and cash, Tina leaves her with something unexpected. The niece Naomi didn’t know she had. Now she’s stuck in town with no car, no job, no plan, and no home with an 11-year-old going on thirty to take care of.

There’s a reason Knox doesn’t do complications or high-maintenance women, especially not the romantic ones. But since Naomi’s life imploded right in front of him, the least he can do is help her out of her jam. And just as soon as she stops getting into new trouble he can leave her alone and get back to his peaceful, solitary life.

At least, that’s the plan until the trouble turns to real danger.

I enjoyed this story and though this couple’s journey to happily ever after was filled with twists, turns, bumps in the road, and possibly a large sinkhole opening up in the center of town, I was happy when they got what they both so desperately wanted even if one thought they didn’t deserve it and the other wasn’t sure it would ever happen. ~ Sharon – Simply Love Books

First off I want to say that I think Lucy Score is an amazing author and has produced some of my favorite books I’ve read over the last few years. While there have been a few misses for me, she gives me great characters, saucy banter, crazy characters and lots of laughter and love.  For the most part I loved Things We Never Got Over, the small town of Knockemout, Virginia and its crazy, nosey residents stole my heart.  The two main characters had a lot of baggage and at times I felt like I was on a merry go round that wouldn’t let me off as we as they both kept making the same mistakes, saying I’m sorry, then lather, rinse, and repeat and it got a bit old. It also added a lot of drama into a book that had enough drama already. That all being said, I enjoyed this story and though this couple’s journey to happily ever after was filled with twists, turns, bumps in the road, and possibly a large sinkhole opening up in the center of town, I was happy when they got what they both so desperately wanted even if one thought they didn’t deserve it and the other wasn’t sure it would ever happen.

Naomi (aka Daisy, aka Not Tina) was a bit of conundrum; obviously educated, seemingly always in control, her life went haywire the night before her wedding and when her sister calls to say she needs her on her wedding day, knowing that getting married is a mistake, she flees the wedding and heads to Knockemout to help her twin. Only her twin helps herself to Naomi’s car, her purse, her phone, her laptop, her clothes and in the place of her belongings leaves Waylay, the eleven year old niece Naomi didn’t even know she had.

Knox can’t believe there are two of them, but it becomes evident the minute Not Tina opens her mouth that the two women are truly different. He still wants her gone but not because he thinks she’s going to cause havoc all over town, but because he doesn’t like the reaction his body has toward her. She has long term written all over her and that is not in the cards for him, ever.

I liked Naomi despite her issues of feeling like she had to take care of everyone’s problems and always have control over every situation. I love the way she stood up to people in town especially the hero, Knox, who thinking she was her twin Tina decided he was going to make sure she didn’t cause havoc in “his” town. More importantly, it was a testament to her character that she immediately was determined to take care of Waylay and give her the stability she’d never had. My biggest issue with Naomi was that she didn’t learn that her sister couldn’t be trusted, put herself in danger and had to be rescued. That is one of my biggest pet peeves in romance books. Knox on the other hand, I had a hard time liking. I know many people go for the growly, I’m in charge man, but to me he was pretty much an a$$hole throughout this book. Yes, the dude had issues and baggage, but seriously get some damn therapy. It’s not like he didn’t have the money to finance it. The times I warmed to him were his interactions with Waylay and when he tried to make things right when Naomi’s parents caught him in her home. There were just too many times when he was a jerk for me to love him.

This was a busy book with a lot going on and at times I felt like the romance got a bit lost in the story. I liked these two together; I think they balanced each other well once they got over themselves and their baggage to figure it out.

Lucy Score is one of those authors I look forward to her book releases. She has a knack for writing books with full bodied plots, unique characters, and witty banter making you want to jump inside the pages and be a part of the story. I thoroughly enjoyed Things We Never Get over and I look forward to more stories about the Knockemout gang.
