This read will having sugar melting in your mouth, and this couple melting your heart! ~ Rosalie, Guilty Pleasures
Description:
She knows him by reputation
Riley Shaughnessy knew that to stand out in his large family, he’d have to go big. Making a name for himself as a musician wasn’t easy, but he followed his dreams to rock-star success. But the relentless expectations of fans is not helping the slump he’s in now. So of course the person who attracts him is the woman who is not impressed by fame.
Which gives Riley Shaughnessy a lot to prove
Entertainment reporter Savannah Daly is completely unfazed by pretty-boy rock stars. She’s just here to get her interview and write her story. But spending an entire month with the Shaughnessys is going to show Savannah a side of Riley she never could have guessed.
ARC provided with no expectations
Riley Shaughnessy is a a musician that has separated from his band to try to make it big with his own solo album. He can write his own songs, perform and make it big by himself…except he has a mental block that is to the point the label wants him gone. Unless he interviews with a magazine (which he really doesn’t want to do) and gives them something to feed off of until his album is finished and released. Riley decides to buy time, he will give his label the interview they want…but his way.
Savannah Daly has been plucked from being a hairdresser to be a reporter. She has worked her way up the ranks and receives the story opportunity that she hopes will be her big breakthrough. Until the Shaughnessy piece comes along and she is assigned it. Being told she is the only one that will peel back the layers of this closed off rocker and dig deep, getting the real story, she unreluctantly accepts the position (a little peeved – but still accepts). Running off to blow off steam, who else does she run into, but the exact person she is supposed to digging deeper into. Hmmmmmm….perfect opportunity or huge mishap?
Riley immediately is alive seeing Savannah. After being so closed off for so long, this is what he truly needs. And playing with her through the interview process, hoping for more, means both get to toy with each other; but who exactly is the cat and who is the mouse?! Throughout the book, the two help each other to live, and let go of the past, realizing that the future is what is the most important.
This was one of the sweetest reads I have read in a long time. Samantha Chase weaves a web that sucks her readers in; a web that I truly didn’t want to leave. The two dig into each other, finding the best, and sucking the reader in, completely and totally. The plot was wonderful, the characters very well developed, and loved seeing these two develop! Another great read in the The Shaughnessy Brothers Series!

There was just so much good in this book and it was incredibly hard to put down for any length of time, I wanted to stay immersed and revel in its wonderfulness. ~ Slick, Guilt Pleasures
I was so not expecting the emotional journey that Samantha Chase takes her characters on in
This Is Our Song and that’s not a bad thing. Much like the heroine did to the hero in this book, I judged this book by the cover and having never read this author before I thought it was be a simple, light, fluffy read, but it was so much more. I was simply captivated by the two main characters and the way they fell into a relationship, I was enthralled with every detail of this story, and I fell in love with every character in this book and now I want to go back and read the previous books in this series and am salivating over the next book which will be the twin of the hero in this book. To be quite honest, I am now a huge fan of this author from this ONE book; she transported me with her words into the world of this family and I don’t want to leave it.
Taking a break from his rock star success to write and record a solo album Riley Shaughnessy’s time is running out. A year after he is passed over for a rock legends show, he is struggling to come up with the remainder of the songs he needs and his label, not to mention his fans are putting pressure on him. To appease the label he agrees to an in-depth interview even though he really doesn’t want to do it, he figures he can fake his way through it but what he doesn’t count on is Savannah Daly or the connection he feels immediately with her.
This is a complex story with many layers and throughout it all is Riley and Savannah trying to deny their attraction and remain professional and failing miserably at it. From the instant they meet, there is just something about the two of them together that is special and the more time they spend together the more obvious it becomes. When Riley takes her to North Carolina to spend time with his family, hoping to put some space between them and maybe even overwhelm her she becomes the center of attention and everyone loves her and she quickly falls in love with them. What I loved was that Savannah didn’t fawn over Riley in fact when they first met she told him she didn’t think much of his talent and while he did prove her otherwise, she never really cut him any slack. She pushed him to examine all parts of his life, she made him dig deep into his soul and because of that and her insistent pushing he came out of his slump and wrote some of the best music of his career. While Savannah refused to take credit for any of it, Riley knew she was important to him not only for his creativity but because she handled him with tough love, something no one had ever done for him before. He adored her for making him examine his life and for the fact that she truly enjoyed being with just him, no Riley the rock star. Keep in mind this is a sweet romance and not your typical sex, drugs and rock & roll romance, they do have sex but it isn’t “seen,” but to be honest I didn’t even miss it.
There was just so much good in this book and it was incredibly hard to put down for any length of time, I wanted to stay immersed and revel in its wonderfulness. Sometimes an author comes along and just blows me out of the water and Samantha Chase has done just that with This Is Our Song; I can’t wait to read what she comes up with next.
Thanks Slick
