This friend to lovers’ story has a bit of drama and a whole lot of chemistry to make this an enjoyable read. ~ Amanda, Guilty Pleasures

Description:
Welcome back to Fairfield Orchard, where apples and romance are ripe for the picking…

Actor Tyler Fairfield is Spencer Hollow’s only home-grown celebrity. To Brianna MacDougall, he’s a friend who became a lover over the course of one wild night in New York City. They both agreed it was a mistake—so why can’t Bri forget? Maybe because Tyler makes her feel like the only person in a crowded room. Or because his kisses melt her like warm caramel over ice cream. Tyler back in town means temptation 24/7. Bri has more than enough on her plate producing a holiday play and running her family business, but this new secret fling can’t last (right?) so she intends to enjoy every minute of it…

Bri’s like no woman Tyler’s known—including Gabrielle, his former costar. Fairfield Orchard and Tyler himself are part of the plan to rehabilitate Gabrielle’s image, but scorching encounters and tender moments with Bri make Tyler wish he hadn’t signed on. He’d trust Bri with anything; she’s his heart and his home. But proving it to her may bring more drama than either of them bargained for…

Emma Cane is one of my favorite authors and I love to read her books. Her new series is off to a good start and the second book continues the story of Fairfield Orchard. Spiced Apple Winter is the second book and it is Tyler and Brianna’s love story. Tyler Fairfield is an actor by trade and is the small Virginia town’s celebrity. He is taking the first turn and a 6 month commitment with his twin Amy, to manage the orchard and bring it back to life somehow. In book 1 he had difficulties with the job but he is more comfortable with himself, now that he is taking medication for his newly diagnosed attention deficit disorder. He is also finding it hard to keep his friend Brianna/Bri in the friend zone, considering the night of hot sex they had a few months ago. They both are pretending to not remember since there was alcohol involved. Both Tyler and Bri hope that one night won’t spoil their friendship. Little did they know that it was the spark that lit the fuse!

Bri has always had a crush on Tyler and is being realistic about how things are between them. She knows that he is eventually going back to his acting career after his six months are up and she is staying here. She is also has a full plate with work and family. Between managing her family’s general store and helping take care of her father with Alzheimer’s, she decides to help the production of a holiday play. I liked Bri because she is a doer and a fixer. She puts others first and tries to fix their problems. Her mother had to point this out to her to take time for herself and try to have some fun. Tyler sees this as well and makes it a point to help out with the fun. Before you know it they agree to have sexy fun with no strings attached with the time he has left. They had to keep it a secret considering Tyler was Gabrielle’s ‘boyfriend.’ There were a few twists but it the end they did what felt right and let the gossip take care of itself.

This friend to lovers’ story has a bit of drama and a whole lot of chemistry to make this an enjoyable read. But it also has its serious moments tackling the horrible disease Alzheimer’s and how it affects family and other loved ones. Tyler thinks of Bri’s Dad as a second father and wants to spend time with him too. The story also touches on alcoholism and how that also affected all the Fairchild’s. This story makes it real for me because we don’t live in a vacuum and life can be complicated. The comfortable transition that Tyler makes with his life choices just brings the story to a nice conclusion. I like reading romance series starring a big family and Fairfield Orchard fits the bill perfectly. I highly recommend Emma Cane’s new story if you are a fan of contemporary romances.
