Bedroom Eyes by Desiree Holt is a jam packed novella that will leave you swooning. A heroine with a physical anomaly works a boring day job and writes romance by night mostly about the fantasies she has about her hot SEAL neighbor. While a short read, there was something special about these two characters and their connection.
Most of Bridget Reilly’s life is lived behind the tinted glasses she wears to hide her abnormal eyelids, the ones that have sent many a man running from her. She lives a quiet life and has few friends, but most nights she spends in front of her computer penning romances about happily ever afters, something she hopes to have one day when she saves the money for the surgery she would like to have. So what if all the heroes she write resemble Clay Randall, her sexy as sin next door neighbor.
Over the two years they’ve lived next to one another Bridget and Clay have formed a friendship, but nothing more although she’s longed for much more. Bridget finds a way to have a magical night with Clay, but never reveals who she is and leaving him searching for the woman who rocked his world.
I enjoyed this friends to lovers story quite a bit and while I was a bit disappointed that Bridget felt she couldn’t share her problem with Clay and didn’t give him the benefit of the doubt, I could also understand her reluctance to do so. I would have liked more time with them really getting to know one another before the “I love you” stage, but I can also appreciate the attraction and friendship between them put them on the fast path to love.
