So, a new book by Elle Boon and a new genre. Surprised isn’t strong enough of a word for me to atruegemawarduse when I was told that she was writing a Contemporary Romance. Paranormal was always her genre and I love, love, love her Ravens of War, Mystic Wolves and SmokeJumpers Series … now to find out just how hot the nights are in Miami with Angelina and Lorenzo.

I love the fact that Elle writes concise and to the point books. It’s always been the one thing that drew me to her. No matter the genre, the story moves, it does not stagnate and drag us through meaningless descriptions of how blue the sky is, how tall the trees are or how big his …… well, you get the point. Miami Inferno did not disappoint me in that regard at all. It moved, quickly. Sometimes a little too quick where I had to piece the story together a little bit in my mind. But, not so quick that I really had no idea what was really happening. So, be prepared for a fast moving story with some very interesting characters.

As for the storyline … it was fun, a little suspenseful and really hot. I wish there was more character development with Andrew. I think a little more background on him would have explained his actions a little bit more and would not have hurt the story at all. Angel and Ren light up the book … they were serious, they were fun, they were hot and sexy. Together they exploded onto the pages and set the night on fire .

Elle also peaked our curiosity with Gia, Fernando and Derek. I am looking forward to seeing how she brings Fernando back from the edge and just how hot it’s going to be between the gum snapping Gia and Derek. Now, they should be interesting.

But, what grabbed my heartstrings the most was the way both families stood by the children. How they were there to not only support them but to protect them – to give them guidance and love. Even though they were Cuban, they reminded me so much of a tight-knit Italian family who pull together in the bad times, party in the good times and just ultimately love their families.

So, Elle, not bad for your first journey into Contemporary Romance! You have me looking forward to more hot nights in Miami.

Miami Inferno is a sexy story of unrequited young love finally getting its chance to come alive.  ~ Slick, Guilty Pleasures

Having met Elle Boon and finding her to be a delightful person, I wanted to read her books but as I am not a paranormal fan I waited until she had a contemporary out for me to read and review. Miami Inferno is a sexy story of unrequited young love finally getting its chance to come alive.

Angelina (Angel) Rugiero was in love with her best friend’s big brother Lorenzo up until her 18th birthday when an event sent her reeling and doing something she’s regretted the rest of her life, but most of all it destroyed her adoration for Lorenzo. Five years later Angel is back in Miami with a big decision to make about her life, but in one night her outlook changes forever.

Lorenzo finds Angel dancing in his club on a night he’s off and goes ballistic that other men are looking at her in a way he deems inappropriate and when she offers to teach some salsa to a willing partner Lorenzo swoops in to claim the dance and her. I have to say as a lover of dance and someone who admires a good salsa, this was one sexy scene because let’s face it dancing is the vertical expression of a horizontal act. That dance leads to more and these two finally find their way to one another but not without a bit of suspense to make it interesting.

I loved that both Angel and Lorenzo had fantastic families to back them up, that once they reconnected Angel was able to forgive Lorenzo and they moved forward without a lot of drama. There was no denying their physical attraction as their intimate scenes were scorching. I would have liked to see them spend time outside of bed learning about each other as the adults they’ve become, sharing their hopes and dreams and how their lives have changed since the last time they were together; in other words more character development, yet I loved how easily they came together and because of their long history with one another it was totally believable.

Elle Boon shows great promise as a contemporary romance writer and Miami Heat was an emotional yet hot story of two people who finally get their chance at the love they’d both wanted for a long time. With these two families, I can only imagine what a wedding between them would be like…ay caramba!
