I enjoyed One Night With A Cowboy; the characters were interesting, the story entertaining but there just wasn’t the emotional connection between the two main characters. ~ Slick, Guilty Pleasures

One night is never enough…

Jobless, broke, and struggling to support herself and her invalid mother, paramedic Sophie Miller doesn’t have time or energy for a relationship. Especially with her mother’s clock ticking down. So when the sexy cowboy she meets at a carnival proposes a no-strings, one-night stand, she’s all over it. Until her one-night stand shows up again and turns out to be everything she’s ever wanted.

Tucker Haywood has his hands full running Paint River Ranch and trying to deal with all the changes pulling the rug out from under him. His past has taught him it’s better to keep women at arm’s length, for their sake. Stubborn and temperamental, Tucker doesn’t have a clue how to deal with a city girl who’s
scared of squirrels and dirt.

So when Sophie gets under his skin, he has to do whatever it takes to push her away. Even if it means losing the part of himself he never thought he’d find.

One Night With A Cowboy by Elizabeth Otto is a book that confused me, while there were aspects of it I really enjoyed by the end I just kind of felt sorry for the two main characters because while the readers got to know them, they never spent any real time getting to know one another. I felt like they were cheated and question if their relationship will last over time.

Sophie Miller and Tucker Haywood meet under unusual circumstances and have a scorching encounter and part ways. While Tucker would like to see Sophie again something that he normally doesn’t do but Sophie has too much going on in her life and declines. However days later they find themselves meeting up again and realizing their sizzling chemistry isn’t going anywhere.

These was no doubt these two enjoyed some hot as hell sexy times but other than Tucker trying to run Sophie’ life and take care of a few of her problems they never really shared much about themselves. Tucker has a lot of issues both from his childhood and recent. Sophie realizes that he shies away from talking about his life and she doesn’t push him to talk. While Sophie shares a little with Tucker about what is going on in her life right now, she never tells him about her childhood, her hopes, her dreams, and her disappointments. I just found this very sad especially since the readers are clued into this through their memories and thoughts.

The thing is I enjoyed One Night With A Cowboy; the characters were interesting, the story entertaining but there just wasn’t the emotional connection between the two main characters that I expect when they get to the “I love you” stage and it just left me feeling flat and sad.
