Rachel Armstrong has a burning need to right the world’s wrongs. Thus, she becomes the Avenging Angel.
And maybe she’s a bit too cocky about it.
While riding a hunch about the identity of a kidnapper, she runs into Julien “Cap” Jackson, who was trained by the team at Nightingale Investigations in Denver. Now he’s a full-fledged member at their newly opened Phoenix branch.
It takes Cap a beat to realize Raye’s the woman for him. It takes Raye a little longer (but just a little) to figure out how she feels about Cap.
As Raye introduces Cap to her crazy posse of found family and his new home in the Valley of the Sun, Cap struggles with his protective streak. Because Raye has no intention to stop doing what she can to save the world.
But there’s a mysterious entity out there who has discovered what Raye is up to, and they’ve become very interested.
Not to mention, women are going missing in Phoenix, and it seems like the police aren’t taking it seriously.
Raye believes someone should.
So she recruits her best friend Luna, and between making coffees, mixing cocktails, planning parties and enduring family interventions (along with reunions), the Avenging Angels unite to ride to the rescue.
Kristen Ashley’s latest series is off to a fantastic start with Avenging Angel! I loved these characters, the mission of the Angels, and all the drama, fun, and danger we expect from Ms. Ashley. ~ JavaGirl – Simply Love Books
Avenging Angel is the first book in a new series from Kristen Ashley. It’s set in Phoenix, with appearances by a lot of our favorite characters from previous books, especially Rock Chicks. I know this is blasphemy, but I’m not a RC fan. I wasn’t sure if I would read this series due to it being sort of in the RC world, but it magically showed up on my ereader, so I gave it a go–and I LOVED IT! The main characters, Cap and Rachel are two of my favorite KA characters, which is saying something since she has written so many appealing characters. The circumstances around their first meeting—definitely not a “meet cute”—had me thinking Rachel was going to constantly get into trouble and need rescuing, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that wasn’t the case at all. Rachel is smart, hilarious, capable, has a huge heart, and is also a badass. I loved her relationships with the people in her life, her sense of community, the family she’s surrounded herself with. Both Rachel and Cap have tragic back stories, but both have been able to find new chosen families and flourish. I was thrilled with Cap’s communication skills; he doesn’t shy away from expressing his feelings and intentions with Rachel. There is a lot going on plot-wise, and I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone so I won’t go into details, but I thought the various sub-plots worked really well. I love the Charlie’s Angels references as well as the mission the Angels find themselves on. The secondary characters are charming, fun, annoying, mysterious-I’m looking at you, Tito. There are lots of loose ends I’m looking forward to seeing wrapped up in the other books in this series.
