I'm not a total dick. Most days, I'm a damned decent guy. Just not around my buddy's sister. She's sexy as sin, sharp as hell, and she's also the lush little harpy who's been rubbing me wrong since we were kids. I don't want to do her a favor ... If it had been any other damsel in distress looking to shake some unwanted attention, I'd have been the perfect fake boyfriend for all of five minutes. But Laurel brings out the bastard in me, and five minutes hardly seemed enough time to make her squirm. She wants to one-up me, and I want to win. But maybe I need a favor too ...
A delight to read from beginning to end, I loved Dirty Bad Boy. ~ Sharon – Simply Love Books
I was a bit ambivalent about Jack’s story as I just couldn’t get a handle on him in the first two books in this series. He seemed like kind of a self absorbed a$$ and therefore I didn’t really care if he found love, yet here we are with this being my favorite to date in this series. Dirty Bad Boy is a best friend’s little sister/frenemy-to-lovers/fake engagement story that was fairly complicated and filled with a lot of emotion and some big revelations.
Laurel has been estranged from her parents for several years; moving out of their home, refusing to attend society/business social parties, and refusing any financial support for school or living expenses because it came with expectations to be at their beckon call and after an incident years ago she won’t do it. She’s worked hard, put herself through college, and is working in a job making decent money unfortunately her boss’s son wants to date her and she wants nothing to do with him, but she does want the promotion she deserves so what if she made up a boyfriend. Now C-man as he refers to himself wants to meet her boyfriend and luckily she knows where to find him and hopes he’ll go along with her charade. What Laurel doesn’t expect is for Jack to jump at the chance to help her or for him to ask for a HUGE favor of playing the part of his girlfriend so he can land the big deal his father has been after for a very long time.
I just have to say it, the fact these two have known one another since they were 6 years old was priceless and the missteps young Jack had in trying to compliment young Laurel had me laughing so hard. There’s a fine line between love and hate and man these two cross it often. This book was scorching hot as these two discover each other as adults and put the past behind them, unfortunately that past rears its ugly head, but in the end love wins.
I flat out loved both these characters and though I’m not a huge fan of flashbacks, the peeks into their past interactions were key to how the past shaped them and how together they move forward.
A delight to read from beginning to end, I loved Dirty Bad Boy.
