Until she ghosts him.
Single mom and school teacher Maisie Delgado has enormous secrets. She's created a quiet life in a remote town where she can raise her five-year-old son out of the spotlight. So when she bumps into the rock star she met four years ago, she hopes to flee before he notices his resemblance to the little boy at her side.
Of course, life doesn't work that way, and Reid figures it out.
It should be a simple thing to win her back and get to know his son, but those pesky secrets turn out to be dealbreakers, and now he's in the fight of his life to hold onto his new family.
A page-turner from start to finish, filled with emotion and heat; I loved Baby I’m Yours. ~ Sharon – Simply Love Books
I loved Baby I’m Yours by Erika Kelly. Written as a serial for her newsletter subscribers it has now been released in book form for all to read. Let me state that I am an Erika Kelly subscriber, but I don’t read serials, sneak peeks, or chapter reveals so this book was completely new to me when I picked it up to read and I am so glad I did. Despite the fact that Ms. Kelly writes books that include some pretty famous people, she makes you see that deep down they are just ordinary people who want to be loved for who they are not the job they do, and I love that about her writing. In this book, a couple meets in a unique way and end up spending five wonderful days together before a misunderstanding sends one running away, but their time together had consequences even if it’s that good kind.
Reid Sinclair spent the last decade being someone he isn’t but he did it to help his family including his twin a super talented song writer, musician, and vocalist who had massive stage fright. So Reid became Van Claybourne, a rock god and a fraud in his opinion. Sure he can sing, but the real talent is his twin Bex and Reid just wants someplace where he can be himself. Finding a house in Wyoming while at a music festival, Reid feels like he can finally breathe. A place just for him and then he finds a woman hiding in a closet, but there’s something about her that makes him laugh, smile, and feel more like his real self than he’s felt in years.
Maisie Delgado just wanted to find someplace away from the noise and her irritating boss to enjoy her lunch and have a few minutes peace. She didn’t expect to be discovered by Van Claybourne or to realize he is such a nice guy. One day turns into two then two into more until he gets a suggestive text from someone she knows all too well and while she feels bad she ghosts him.
Six years later Maisie runs into Reid in the last place she expects, the small Wyoming town she’s made her life in and he takes one look at her son and she knows her life is about to change once again.
One thing that was undeniable about Reid and Maisie was their chemistry, but there was also an easy friendship between them from the start which is why they both felt so deeply hurt by one another. They didn’t have an easy path to a happily ever after; it was filled with twists, and turns, and a big old pothole that about swallowed them whole, but their connection was stronger than those determined to keep them apart.
There were so many heartwarming moments as Reid got to know his son, Jagger, and work towards a relationship with both him and his mother. I enjoyed the complexity of this story; there were a lot of moving parts and each one was integral to the outcome.
A page-turner from start to finish, filled with emotion and heat; I loved Baby I’m Yours.
