As she herself becomes a target, and someone close to the Brotherhood is identified as the prime suspect, the two must work to together to solve the mystery…before it’s too late. Will a madman come between the lovers or will true love and goodness triumph over a very mortal evil?
I wasn’t really sure what to expect from BLOOD TRUTH by JR Ward because I couldn’t remember anything about Boone, the main character, other than he was in the trainee program in the Black Dagger Brotherhood and seemed somewhat quiet. I embraced going into this book blind with no expectations only that I was excited to read another JRW book, and I’m so glad I did because Boone was a bit of a surprise. He’s alpha but also beta, and totally swoon-worthy with a mixture of possessiveness but also such a caring gentlemale. Helania is mourning a loss and is full of self-doubt but she is a total bad-a$$ and beyond brave. This is where Boone totally compliments her character because he’s the one who helps her realize it. It was essential to see her character grow, take chances, fall in love and understand her worth. The two mains were brought together by separate tragedies which gave them a common bond and only added to their chemistry. The romance was sweet and steamy with an instalove, but we all know when a male vampire finds his mate, that’s it. End of. I learned that Butch still has my heart and now Boone does too. When Boone is taken off the killing lessers rotation, he and Butch are tasked to work together on solving a series of female vampire murders. Watching them in this capacity, as mentor and mentee, I couldn’t help but think ahead, and fingerscrossed we see more of this compatible duo crime solvers. I really miss Butch, the cop. Vischous fans will enjoy the story because he’s in it a good bit. I mean, can you have Butch without V? Nope, you cannot.
BLOOD TRUTH is a 5 star read for me because I did not want to put it down. I stayed up late and woke up early dying to know what happened next and it’s been a REALLY long time since that has happened for me. There is nothing in the paranormal universe that compares to the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. Even though the Legacy series this is a side world of the original series you’re gifted with scenes and storylines involving the Brothers and I will never ever complain about that. Syn, one of the Bastards is in BLOOD TRUTH and his book has been set up. All I can say is he is one messed up dude. April 2020 cannot get here soon enough.
If you are a paranormal fan and you enjoy intrigue, twists, and exciting action mixed in with your romance you will love this installment of the Legacy series.
