taken on a new world. The world of horse racing and bourbon may never be the same. If you are familiar with her work, you know she tells amazing stories that are weaved together to make one big story. The Bradford family is the top name in bourbon, and has been for years. But there are secrets that a good name and lots of money have kept hidden. As the Derby is getting into full swing, things just aren’t adding up like they used to.
Lizzie King has worked for at Easterly the Bradford family estate as the head horticulturist for years, and even had her heart ripped out buy one of the family. It just isn’t tolerable for one of the heir apparent to fall for an employee. Her problem now is that all that the son she hasn’t seen in two years is now home, and she is as much in love with him today as the day he stomped on her heart.
Tulane Baldwine left Easterly, and swore never to return. He has spent the last two years in a poker and booze induced fog, but when he gets the call that his mother is dying he flies home immediately. When he gets home, he notices that all is not what it should be. So when there is a murder in the house, he is determined to find out what is going on. But while figuring out his family, he is determined to win Lizzie’s heart back. Without her he is broken. Their chemistry just jumps off the pages. They are meant to be together, and boy oh boy are they explosive together.
If there is one thing being a soap opera fan has taught me it is this: to have lots of money is to have lots of trouble. The Bradford family proves that in spades. I am so hooked on this world of sex, lies, and betrayal. Each of the four siblings in this family are just broken, and I can’t wait to get the rest of their stories. You get a glimpse into the other stories to come, and know that it is going to be one hell of a ride. Mrs. Ward has once again taken me hostage. I can’t wait to see where she leads us.
*Side note: The stories are continuous, but don’t end on a cliffhanger for the main couple. Very similar to the way she writes the BDB series.
