Description:
Saving the world should be easier. When airship captain Kaysana meets Sten the last thing she wants to do is have mad rough sex with him while bound by ropes and clamps…but fate pencils in their appointment. The lust plague strikes. From her infected crew, zombies arise.

With her ship gone, she must rely on Sten, a human clone, a man who has fought all his life to master himself. She despises his kind and detests Sten’s growing hold on her. Though he never takes no for an answer, surely it’s the plague that makes yes slip from her tongue like melted butter? Or should she blame her own traitorous heart?

Hordes of slavering zombies await them. Sten and Kaysana unlimber weapons, don goggles, and set a course for the origin of the plague. Yet victory will be hollow if they cannot also solve the puzzle of their hearts.

Well, where to start with Lust Plague (The Steamwork Chronicles 2)? First, please allow me to say that this is a brand new genre of books for me. I was a little confused when I first started reading this book but I was absolutely determined to finish it AND understand it. About half way through the book, I went back and reread the guest blog that Ms. Silverwood did on Guilty Pleasures and it all started clicking into place. My suggestion, if this is going to be your first Steampunk book, read Cari’s blog and open your mind. This is a form of sci-fi at it’s best. Frankenstructs, Zombies and Doms…OH MY! (Cari’s WHAT IS STEAMPUNK GUEST BLOG)

Frankenstruct – Sten – good god! And a Dom too! I guess the only way to explain Sten is to tell you to picture a Dom at his best. He has control, he has feelings, he wants nothing more than to pleasure Kaysana and to get her to realize that he is more than a Frankenstruct – he is a man. He does things with clamps and wires that had me squirming in my seat.

Zombies – just what the word means. Lot’s of them and a lot of blood and gore to go with them. Zombie F is the LUST PLAGUE….and what attracts the Zombies to humans – sex, of course! Which is the reason for the name, Lust Plague. First they rape you and then they eat you (literally). They were such fun.

The story of Kaysana and Sten was wonderful. There was a whole back-story beyond the Zombie F Plague that is hitting their world. There were times that I could not believe Kaysana was being as prejudiced and shallow as she was. She could only think of what her family would say, what would her GAM Commander’s think of her being with a Frankenstruct? Here was a man that adored her, would lay down his life for her and gave her the greatest pleasure she ever had and she could not see beyond the fact that he was a Frankenstruct. I also think she didn’t want to admit to being a Submissive either. Sten didn’t give up though, he fought for her, beside her and against her. It took other peoples opinions and hatred of Frankenstructs to open her eyes and accept him as a man.

You definitely have to read this genre with an open mind and look beyond the machines and other-worldliness of the book. Ms. Silverwood wrote a beautiful love story that just happened to be set in a different kind of world we are used to. Her writing was unbelievable – the imagination it takes to write a Steampunk book is beyond my realm of thinking; the domination scenes were fresh, very well written and explicit. Lust Plague did not have any “down” time. It was constantly moving, changing and making you wonder what was going to happen to Kaysana, Sten and Emily next. Will I read The Steamwork Chronicles 3 (hoping that it’s Emily and Corey’s story)? Most definitely.

Thanks for the review! I haven’t read anything by Cari yet, but do have Rough Surrender waiting to be read on my reader,

MaryC Rough Surrender is a more traditional romance within the BDSM theme. I think most will love that story. Enjoy the read 🙂

Lust Plague appeals more to those who like fantasy and scifi. Though the core romance there is hot enough to draw in those with open minds. One of my strengths is writing super-hot erotic BDSM scenes. The only complaints there have been from those who think erotic romance is smut that’s barely a step up from the gutter.

If you love sexy action adventure stories, and Doms who can melt your panties in a glance, my stories should grab you.

As I said in the review, this is a new genre for me and I will definately be keeping an eye out for more.

Cari, I’m definitely going to be checking out your booklist! Not only does this books sound good but I’m sure I’ll enjoy the rest of your books. I don’t mind reading books that are “a step up from the gutter”! 😉

I remember reading Cari’s article on Steampunk, which was quite illuminating and interesting. Zombies that rape you first and then eat you. Very different story for sure.
