Their love never died, but her secrets could break his trust beyond repair.

Summary:
After six years and too much self-recrimination, rancher Mitch Landry is ready to admit he was wrong. He’d loved Olivia Montgomery but commitment wasn’t high on his list back then. That was his first mistake. He’s just divorced his second, and he’s set to do whatever it takes to convince Olivia to give him another try.

Through hard work, determination and more than a few tears, Olivia survived the break-up with Mitch. She’s rebuilt her life around her business and the son she loves more than life itself. She’s not proud of the mistakes she’s made—particularly the secrets she’s kept—but when life hands you manure, you use it to make something better of yourself…lest you get stuck in it.

At a hot, muggy Dallas wedding, they reconnect. Olivia’s first instinct is to play it cool, but after one devastating kiss things flare real out of control, real fast. Maybe a quick roll in the hay will get him out of her system once and for all. Funny thing about hay though, once it’s tangled in your hair, getting it out risks revealing things that were never meant to see the light of day.

Warning: Contains hot sex, a vindictive ex-wife, and hot chocolate chip cookies.

DiDi’s Review:
Six years ago, Mitch wasn’t ready for commitment so he walked away from Olivia breaking her heart.  Before they had a chance to attempt to reconcile, tragedy strikes, causing Mitch to make decisions that totally shatter the broken pieces of Olivia’s heart.

Fast Forward to current day, Olivia’s best friend is getting married to Mitch’s best friend.  Throwing Mitch and Olivia together for the first time since he walked out on her. They can’t resist the chemistry that still exists between them, so they agree to one weekend of passion. A weekend that ends with both of them realizing they have unfinished business.

My heart bled for Olivia. Six years ago, Mitch was the King of Douchebaggery, but that doesn’t stop her body from coming alive the the first time she sees him. She decides to work him out of her system once and for all then walk away because she knows that is all they can have and all her heart can take. During their first night together Olivia realizes her feelings still run deep for Mitch and decides to cut the weekend short before she gets hurt again.

Mitch wants more, he wants to win Olivia back, until he finds out her secret, then he puts his crown of Douchebaggery back on.  BUT I liked Mitch, because even with his crown on, you could feel his conflicting emotions.  He knows he was wrong six years ago, he knows he has no right to be as pissed as he is because he knows his actions were the reason Olivia had to lie.  To top it off he still loves Olivia. All this knowledge just makes him even angrier and he tends to let his surly temper show. Mitch is an alpha to the core and a cowboy, how could I not love him.

To add to the drama, Olivia’s ex-husband wants his family back and Mitch’s ex-wife wants him back.

Texas Two Step kept me on an emotional roller coaster, there were moments I wanted Mitch and Olivia together and moments I wanted her to kick him in his junk.  Olivia is a strong women, who right or wrong, made some tough decisions and is now paying the price for them. Mitch is a determined man, who bless his sexy lil’ soul, had to admit he was wrong.  He finally sees the light, destroys his douchebag crown  for good and ends up being a man dreams are made of.

Texas Two Step is an emotionally charged romance, with well developed characters and an engaging secondary cast.  In the midst of all the drama and pain, TTS has plenty of funny moments involving Olivia’s little boy Adam. He steals EVERY scene he is in.  The way Ms. D’Alba describes his actions, facials and the way he talks, is amazing, I could clearly see a grungy little boy in my mind every time his name came up.

Being from Texas myself, I can vouch that Ms. D’Alba is dead on with her descriptions of the areas.

Texas Two Step is Ms. D’Alba’s debut book and it is a keeper for me. A quarter of the way into the book I added Ms. D’Alba to my auto-buys.  I look forward to reading more from this exciting new author.

Did I mention the cover is FRICKIN’ HAWT!!!

  1. Didi, great review as always. You sold me on the story, when you brought up Adam- he is the character I really want to read about. I love cowboys and broken romances can be hard to fix with multiple ex’s. I a sure this will be a read that will bringout a lot emotions. Thanks for the review.
